IT maintenance for your Mexico operation: Windows 11 upgrades, licensing check and preventive care before October

October is a busy month for any office running Windows and Office in Mexico. Several Microsoft support dates land on October 13, 2026, and many local operations get there with slow machines, unchecked licenses and Windows 10 still on half the desks.

So we put together a maintenance promotion that bundles three things in one scheduled visit: fixing what already fails, preventing what is about to, and getting Windows and licensing in order. Here is what it includes and why now.

Corrective vs preventive, with real examples

Corrective is when something already broke: the sales laptop that will not boot, the reception printer nobody can connect anymore. You fix it, close the ticket, move on.

Preventive is what you do so that does not happen: blowing the dust out of the accounting PC, checking a disk before it dies, patching the server on a quiet Saturday.

In our experience, a site that only does corrective work pays twice: the repair and the hours people sit idle. If your headquarters is abroad there is a third cost: nobody local to open the case and tell you what is actually going on.

Windows 10 to Windows 11: why now

Windows 10 stopped getting free security patches in October 2025. Since then it only stays protected through ESU, the paid Extended Security Updates program, and year one of that program ends in October 2026.

What we usually find in a Mexico office: half the PCs already on Windows 11, the rest still on 10 because nobody had time, and a few that fail the hardware requirements, mostly TPM 2.0, the security chip Windows 11 demands.

During the promotion we check every machine: which upgrades directly, which needs a bit more memory or a new disk, and which is not worth it and should be replaced. More detail in what to do before ESU year one ends.

Licensing: the part headquarters cannot see from abroad

Licensing in a remote subsidiary is a blind spot. The purchase happened locally, the keys live in someone’s inbox, and headquarters only learns about it during a Microsoft audit or when Office stops opening email.

That day has a date. Office 2016, 2019 and 2021 leave support on October 13, 2026, and the older versions stop connecting to Microsoft 365. We covered it in the October cliff for Office licenses.
